Trash Can

The City of Jefferson has a contract with Allied Waste (573) 635-8805, 722 Dix Road, to provide trash service.  There are three ways to access service:

  1. Purchase specially marked (Allied Waste) bags at the grocery, hardware or discount store, or Allied Waste's office at 722 Dix Road (transfer station); the cost of the bag covers the transportation and disposal expenses of your trash. Fill it and place it at the curb on pick-up day.
  2. Rent a cart from Allied Waste.  Place your trash in it and place at the curb on trash pick-up day.
  3. Take your trash to 722 Dix Road and pay by the load to dispose of it.

Trash collection is twice per week.  The container must be at the curb by 6 a.m.  No pick up is done on holidays.

  • East of Jefferson Street is Monday and Thursday.
  • West of Jefferson Street is Tuesday and Friday.

City ordinance 30-7 requires trash be removed once per week.  It also states the cart or trash container can only be at the curb on pick-up day.  Other days the cart or container must be in the garage, beside, or behind the house.  Using someone else’s trash container can result in a fine in Municipal Court.  Questions or comments please call Environmental Health Services at (573) 634-6410.
