The City Clerk's Office can:

  • Help you contact your Council representatives
  • Place you on the Council Agenda to make a presentation to your City Council
  • Provide City records upon request
  • Certify copies of City records for legal proceedings
  • Accept petitions or appeals pertaining to City issues
  • File candidates for election to City offices
  • Help you locate current and past ordinances and resolutions

Some duties of the City Clerk:

  • Prepare agendas & distribute information for all City Council meetings
  • Attend all official meetings of the City Council
  • Issue and post official meeting notices for all City Council, Board and Commission, and Committee meetings
  • Keeper of all official City records; preserve and protect historical documents according to state laws
  • Codify, maintain, and distribute, all ordinances which amend the City Code
  • Certify ballots for all City election issues
  • Issue special tax bills for nuisance abatement and capital improvement projects
  • Attest all signatures of the officers of the city when necessary
  • Affix the seal of the City to all documents where required by law
  • Publish all ordinances and resolutions in a manner prescribed by law
